Real Impact: The Mudge Family
In May 2024, the Mudge family was preparing to welcome their third child into the world, when their world turned upside down. Their eldest daughter Ellie, just four years old, woke in pain. A hospital visit revealed the unthinkable – a tumour.
Waiting anxiously for answers, baby Elkie was born. Four days later, they received the call that Ellie was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma – a rare and aggressive tumour based cancer.
Amid joy and fear, Ellie’s strength never wavered. Throughout surgeries, chemotherapy and 23 rounds of radiation without general anaesthetic, Ellie has taken every impossible step and made it her own.
Through it all and still to this day, Ronald McDonald House South East Queensland has been a safe haven for the family - providing accommodation, food, but most importantly each other. Having the entire family together during one of the hardest moments of their life, is something the family will always be grateful for.
